Retail Barcode - Ready to use in retail stores
Buy A Barcode products are basically a retail barcode ready to use in all retail stores excluding GS1 Alliance member stores. There are very few retail stores that are GS1 alliance stores so buy a barcode is ready to use in most retail stores around the world.
So what type of retail barcode should i use
For most of the European countries including South pacific regions it is common to use a EAN-13 barcode. It is a 13 digit number comprising of a two or three digit country code followed by a company prefix of either 5 or 7 digits and the remaining numbers assigned to indivual products. The last digit (13th digit) is called a check digit and is calculated based on the first 12 digit in sequence. If the sequence of the first 12 digits changes than the check digit needs to be recalculated. Haven't said that the UPC bar code has been around since the early 70's. Developed by George J. Laurer is a perfect retail barcode for any store.
